Clear Water Bay in Lingshui County offers a striking contrast to its mature, commercially developed neighbor. Here, the backdrop is one of untouched nature, boasting well-preserved tropical rainforest ecosystems, diverse marine habitats, and a rare native coastal landscape, framed by pristine beaches, coconut groves, and breathtaking ocean views.

A Colossal Transformation
The resort’s narrative is one of ambitious reinvention. What was once a colossal, long-abandoned unfinished structure - initially slated as a 500-guest room flagship property for an international brand - has been transformed by YANG & Associates Group and YOSAAN by YANG. The design team undertook a holistic approach encompassing architecture, interiors, FF&E, and art curation to realize a true resort paradise.
The entire concept draws its inspiration from a fictional muse: the global traveler, an astute art collector, and a dedicated environmentalist. Through a simple design language and a philosophy rooted in contemporary living, the space cultivates an atmosphere dedicated to private discovery, unhurried wandering, and indulgent relaxation.

Architectural Artistry and Social Spaces
The resort bravely defies conventional hotel programming, starting with a lobby that is brilliantly redefined as a triumvirate of experience: an "Art Atrium," a "Living Room," and a "Leisure Balcony". The reception zone fosters a welcoming, open social environment, centered around a warming fireplace and encircled by organic curved furniture. Guests are invited to slow their pace and immerse themselves in the moment, guided by the presence of seven infinity water features, a curated collection of art pieces, and strategically scattered tropical greenery.

This commitment to unique aesthetic realms extends throughout the property. The all-day dining, Chinese, and Japanese restaurants, alongside two distinct bars, each manifest a tailored design that deeply resonates with the Kimpton brand DNA. For curated leisure, the Games Chamber integrates chess, billiards, and a screening room, while an e-sports center specifically caters to the lifestyle preferences of Generation Z.
Even the guestroom furnishings extend the muse’s collecting sensibilities, featuring personalized bespoke pieces imbued with narrative depth. The designers ensured that even easily overlooked "grey" spaces were meticulously crafted, promising guests continual, unexpected moments of delight while wandering, pausing, and observing.

Sustainable Sophistication
The architectural triumph of the Kimpton Aqeos also addressed significant constraints, namely low ceilings, limited natural light, and obstructed views. To enhance axial rhythm while preserving layered exploration, a striking triangular grid structure was introduced in the atrium. Further elevating the space's environmental consciousness, skylights were incorporated into the lobby canopy and atrium to maximize natural light and ventilation. This innovation transformed the atrium into a non-temperature-controlled zone, significantly reducing reliance on artificial lighting and HVAC systems - a testament to enhanced spatial experience and environmental sustainability.

At Kimpton Aqeos Hainan, luxury has been beautifully reimagined, moving past traditional material opulence and stylistic labels. Instead, it manifests as an inward journey, exploring culture, physical well-being, and the soul, forging a compelling new narrative of "contemporary luxury".
