Conceived by Mutant Architecture & Design with the ethos of "a hug to nature," this residence redefines the relationship between the built environment and its surroundings.

The design begins with a simple rectangular volume, artfully manipulated to embrace the southern expanse of the land, forming a tranquil patio. This deformation is not merely aesthetic; it's a thoughtful response to the site's unique characteristics. The home unfolds across two levels. The subterranean floor houses the utilitarian garage and technical areas, while the upper floor is a haven for social and private life.

The living spaces are thoughtfully arranged, featuring an entrance hall, four suites (one with a walk-in closet), a kitchen, and a living room that flow seamlessly into one another. A service toilet and pantry provide additional convenience. Entry is via an intriguing exterior path that leverages the natural northern slope, ensuring privacy and amplifying the site's inherent beauty. This approach creates a captivating visual journey, building anticipation for what lies within. Upon entering, the focus shifts to the south-facing patio and an existing granary, anchoring the home to its context.

The architectural language is defined by a robust and austere character, embodied by exposed concrete poured into traditional nailed wooden formwork. This raw materiality is juxtaposed with elements of golden metal, adding a touch of opulence and refinement. This interplay creates a compelling dialogue between solidity and elegance.

In a bid to preserve the land's organic structure, the swimming pool is integrated into the building's volume. The first-floor slab is ingeniously rotated southwest to forge a direct connection between the living room and the pool area. This design decision transforms the pool into a dynamic element, its suspended volume creating visual tension and the gentle sound of the waterfall adding a unique auditory dimension.

Casa de Bouro is a celebration of its natural setting, achieved through architectural ingenuity and a deep respect for the land. It's a home that embraces its environment both literally and figuratively, offering an experience that is at once grounded and transcendent.
