After Bains de Minuit, a Highly Acclaimed First Collection in 2024, LACLAUX Presents À la tombée du jour

Inspired by a trip to the town of Grand-Bassam in Côte d'Ivoire, Chloé Nègre transcribes the sensory and aesthetic shock she encountered

The heavy sun, the faded facades, the physical relationship with colour and natural, hand-crafted motifs all left their mark on the mind of the interior architect and designer.

With À la Tombée du Jour, LACLAUX (co-founded by interior architect and designer François-Xavier Fonbonnat and Chloé Nègre), the manufactured expression of Studio Chloé Nègre, extends and develops its organic and joyful repertoire by unveiling 11 new pieces, including the Louisa table, redefined through a relief marquetry of lemon, pine, birch and olive wood - as if shaped by wind and humidity; the After Club sofa, upholstered in a Paprika-coloured Manuel Canovas fabric in a cotton and linen blend, broad and enveloping, capturing the persistent dampness, the warmth that lingers in the shade; the Baba swivel armchair, in a fabric from the same manufacturer with ebony and cream motifs that recall the African influences in the collection; the Moonlight coffee table, in curved natural rattan topped with a smoked mirror top that unfurls like a talisman, opening delicately to reveal treasures and bottles.

Each piece oscillates between the erosion of time and the intensity of a memory, between the raw nature of the materials and the delicacy of the textures. Solid bronze rubs shoulders with natural fibers, deep tones meet earthy, vivid or iridescent shimmers.
